Few truths are so clearly taught in the New Testament as the doctrine that in baptism God gives us grace. Again and again the sacred writers tell us that it is in baptism that we are saved, buried with Christ, incorporated into his body, washed of our sins, regenerated, cleansed, and so on...

They are unanimous in speaking of baptism in invariably efficient terms, as really bringing about a spiritual effect. Freed from sin and reborn as children of God, the baptized Christian is incorporated into the Church. As part of the 'light of Christ,' the baptized Christian shares in the Church's mission, rising ever to new and everlasting life.

The practice of Baptism of Infants is an immemorial tradition of the Church. Born in the midst of a sinful world and as bearers of original sin, children are born anew through baptism, freed from the power of darkness and welcomed into the community of the Church.
